build an iphone specific version of todoist

The mobile version of todoist is a pain to use on the iphone because the text is so small. I'd love to see an iphone version that takes advantage of the features available on everyone's favorite phone. :)

An iphone app would be great. Currently I use Toodledo at home, in my office and out and about via the iphone. Would much rather use Todoist as it's a better system.

an IPhone/Touch version with offline data would be great

There might not be a lot of iPhone users of Todoist because... tada... there's no iPhone version of Todoist. *Any* well-built program for the iPhone gets a lot of exposure so it would only help the developers more if they made an iPhone-specific version. I've been using lists.zenbe.com (iPhone + web syncing), but miss Todoist a lot.

Having reviewed 30 personal productivity and time management software apps I'm completely hooked on Todoist, especially with the @context function.

Only had the iPhone for about two weeks now and I'm paitently counting the days until a special app is released.

Oh yes... Long live online productivity.

    I can't believe this should be top priority - The iPhone may well be popular but just not so popular that it overrides all other to-dos;

I don't think it needs to iPhone specific, just needs to be in a nice, smooth format. I use a windows mobile device but I use Opera Mobile to access all the iPhone optimized versions just because they're well designed for their resolution. So just a nice 'mobile version' would be best and advertises the fact that 'iPhone version' generally just means 'Modern Mobile version'.

I would upgrade to premium for a real iphone version of this app

I remember you were looking for somebody to work on an Todoist iPhone app -- are you actually developing it now? It really would help to know ... I need something for my iPhone but would hate to leave Todoist ...

a web based Todoist version for the iPhone might help for some time -- toodledo (which I don't like) has a nice iPhone interface: http://www.toodledo.com/slim/index.php ... of course a real iPhone app would be the best solution ....

An iPhone-adapted version would be great! Reordering is impossible now. I saw BeeJive IM using the double finger tap for scrolling. Maybe this is possible for reordering todoist-items as well.
An iPhone-app would of course be even greater.

What I like about Todoist is the fact that is so down to earth, so practical. Similar to the cool Ubiquity add-on Mozilla released it has a logical approach towards GTD.

@addiktion: We should not confuse attention -a big presence in uservoice- with actual need for "the average todoist user". Would it not be interesting to know the percentage Iphone users within the Todoist community? Of course, the popular vote for overhyped hardware will allways win and for marketing sake it's a valid reason to create this Iphone version.

Who really cares if it's outsourced. As long as Amir thinks it's up to par with what he wants it to be and it syncs with todoist then I could care less. I'd just like something I could use for my iphone/ipod with todoists wonderful to do manager.

Eyelight that doesn't make sense. Your allowed to vote 3 times per category so if anything it could be 200 people with 3 votes each. On the other hand people wouldn't vote for an iphone app if they didn't have an iphone, also this app would reach ipod users as well so it's going to reach a higher mass then you might think. It's obvious a good portion of todoists would like an iphone app.

Please make an app for iphone. I use todoist in my work, at home but when I am out with my iphone I am unable to use it properly.

Next fight: +600 votes VERSUS common sense.
Why? Well just how many Todoistas actually use an Iphone? 20%? that would be fairly high. So +600 : 5 = +125 actual votes. True weight has many faces. (And if I remember well Amir asked for dev support on this so this task could on top of another wishlist called; Outsourced).

Blah. How many todoist users even have an iPhone. I sure don't. Just use the iPhone and increase the text size. Useless feature.

REALLY want a todo list for the iPhone. have downloaded several and none look like they beat todoist if todoist can emulate what they have on the website!

I have checked out the To Do list applications now available for the iPhone and iTouch. Todoist exceeds them all. It would be great to have a ToDoist application.

forgot to say - the http://www.qpr.org/todoist.htm interface addresses the primary issue noted in the original post: the test is no longer too small. It's just a frame, so it would be very simple for the official devs to implement - in fact, they're welcome to copy it.

  21. 3 Default-avatar

I'd love an iphone specific interface; In the interim, I created http://www.qpr.org/todoist.htm as a simple frame for the mini-site; it provides a much more usable interface, proportioned precisely for the iphone/itouch.

There is an iPhone app called Todo by www.appigo.com. They already have an interface to Toodledo and Remember the Milk. A number of people have requested that they develop a Todoist interface. If enough people get on the appigo forum and request that, it could speed up the process. The only thing holding me back from using Todoist is having an offline iPhone app. Hope to see one soon.

  23. 3 Default-avatar

I'm planning on getting an iphone soon, and since todoist is the only list that i kept on updating and using, I would love to be able to carry it with me where I go, especially being able to update it while I'm on the metro!

  24. 3 Default-avatar

For those interested, there's a "mini" version of Todoist (not very well advertised) that Amir already set up some time ago:

    http://todoist.com/?mini=1

... but the interface is more suitable for a sidebar or widget than an iPhone (pretty close, though).

  25. 3 Default-avatar

I might be willing to release code for the iPhone interface I wrote (linked to by domulys up above) ... but I'd prefer that the official Todoist developer(s) just steal my design and support it natively. It should be easy enough to do, but I don't think they're actively working on the site anymore.

  26. 3 Default-avatar

I've just been testing it... I didn't develop it myself.

  27. Default-avatar

domulys: any chance you'd offer your script for download?

This is an iPhone-tailored version of Todoist built on the public API. It just went live this week, so I expect a few more improvements (although it's remarkably faithful to the original)

  29. 3 Default-avatar

a native version of todoist that syncs with todoist would be awesome

  30. 3 Default-avatar

a version which is only optimized would even be great! I have been waiting for a year for you to come out with this one.

  31. 3 Default-avatar

I will buy an iPhone just to use Todoist on it! I love Todoist!

  32. Default-avatar

All that would need to happen is the use of a CSS file that's iPhone specific.

  33. 3 Default-avatar

Presumably it would be pretty easy to adapt the Dashboard widget , or something like it, to work on an iPhone/iPod Touch?

  34. 3 Default-avatar

I have an iPod Touch and this request ties in with Offline access to Todoist. I use Todoist for shopping lists and general reminders between home and the office. A present i print out the lists, but it would be great if I could use my iPod Touch instead. I can't have an iPhone as I didn't get reception at any of the places I visit regularly.

  35. 3 Default-avatar

Not just an iPhone UI but also an offline database that syncs on a periodic basis whenever network (wifi/ cell) is available. Perfect for when using ToDoIst as a shopping list and you can't get a signal on your iPhone.

    luckily I don't have iphone :)
