I'm assuming we're talking about a little pop-up date-picker here. Dead easy to implement with an off-the-shelf java script. Would be really useful as I find myself always having to flip over to Outlook to check what day of the month equates to " a week on monday," or whatever.
@chrismjohnson - Yes, those were the points on the blog a while back. 40% code inflation for one feature is bad, and yes, we all have built-in calendars on our OS. But the key point is user-end simplicity, which often means increased complexity on the coding side.
I've introduced many friends to Todoist, and often been asked "Where's the calendar?". It isn't critical, but it would be helpful...
@renderhead A mini-calendar has been tried in the past, but was excluded because:
* Some of the users that use Todoist a lot would only find the calendar useful in situations that seldomly occur
* Users have already access to mini-calendar's (on their O/S or beside their desk)
* The calendar is simple, but it takes quite some code (it would actually make Todoist's code-base around 40% bigger)
I don't think, with my usage of Todoist, I would make use of it. But it would provide a nice option as an alternative for date selection to have a clickable interface.
I believe a mini-calendar was considered and dismissed sometime back in the development of Todoist... But I cast a vote for it - I think it's a helpful visual aid in choosing date. Of course the typed-in syntax is more powerful - but it makes sense to provide this simple, visually intuitive method of inputting the most common type of date entry.
@eyelite: I think this means a clickable little icon to select dates and times.
Would be handy, especially for selecting dates a few weeks in the future, when you need to know what date a day of the week falls on
In general I find the dates a little confusing, perhaps because you enter the date as DAY MONTH YEAR. As an American, I learned to do it MONTH DAY YEAR, so I always have to stop and think before entering a date into todoist. Could there be a pref for this?

Paul raises a good point. Would using a pre-existing third party javascript solution solve the issue of significantly increasing the code-base?

minus 3 points!
Why a mini-calender when you can have Google calender/Ical support?

Oh duh, I just looked and saw that there is a pref for that. Sorry.
